How Does IP Addresses Work? – Infographic

A URL is linked to an IP address. After entering it on the URL bar, the web browser will look for the related IP address in its cache first, then your OS’s cache, and thirdly in the router’s DNS cache. If it does not find it anywhere there, the web browser will communicate with the ISP’s DNS server. This server also caches DNS entries. After finding the right IP address, the browser will create a TCP/IP connection with that website’s server, which will match the address to transfer data. After that, it will send an HTTP request to that web server, which will send back an HTTP response, and then, the HTML will start rendering on it.
